Stephan Klose joined the Institute fore European Studies as a doctoral researcher in October 2014.

Stephan holds an MSc in Asian Studies from Lund University and a BSc in European Studies from the University of Twente.

Research Interests:
Stephan’s research project aims at understanding how strategic dialogues between the EU and its Asian partners (China, Japan, India and South Korea) limit or enable particular representations of the EU as a political and security actor and how such representations are used by EU institutions to legitimize (an extension of) the European integration project. In his analysis Stephan will follow the discourse-historical approach of critical discourse analysis (CDA) to analyse the discursive realization of the strategic dialogues at the intersection of their internal (linguistic) and external (socio-historic) dimension
