The Good Representative 2.0

Dr. Eline Severs (Vrije Universiteit Brussel and member of EDGE) and Professor Suzanne Dovi (University of Arizona) organised an academic panel 'The Good Representative 2.0' at the 4th ECPR European Conference on Politics and Gender (ECPG), 11-13 June 2015 in Uppsala (Sweden).

The panel was inspired by Suzanne Dovi's (2006) monograph 'The Good Representative' published at Wiley.

The panel dealt with representatives' ethics and set out to specify, in the face of intersectionality theory and the so-called constructivist turn in representation studies, the kind of standards which citizens may use for evaluating their (elected and other) representatives. The panel comprised of four papers which presented contemporary (theoretical and empirical) approaches to studying representative ethics. A follow-up panel is scheduled for the Annual Meeting of the American Political Science Association, 3-6 September 2015 in San Francisco (United States of America).
